Lange 1 Soirée Guilloché — 110.030

The Lange 1 Soirée might be the most exotic thing A. Lange & Söhne has ever put its name to. Everything else in the Lange 1 family, the black-dialed Darth, the mythical .027x, leans serious, monochromatic, almost defiantly Teutonic. The Soirée breaks from that entirely, and it does it through material rather than complication: a dial made from mother of pearl, its surface caught somewhere between silver, pink and green depending on how the light lands on it.

The design underneath is our familiar favorite: the asymmetric dial architecture that's defined the collection since 1994, the big date sitting at one o'clock, the small seconds and power reserve tucked beneath it, the Doppelfederhaus signature running along the base. Nothing about the layout changes for the Soirée, it's the same rule-of-thirds composition Lange perfected on the very first Lange 1. Only now it's built on nacre instead of solid silver.

What makes this particular dial, the guilloché execution, is the layer underneath the mother of pearl: a fine engine-turned pattern pressed into the surface before the nacre goes over it, so the guilloché reads through the pearl rather than sitting on top of it. Combined with the natural iridescence of the shell, it gives the dial a genuinely rainbow-esque quality. Soft lavender near the hour register fading into pale green toward the power reserve, shifting again with every tilt of the wrist. Photographs barely do it justice; in hand, it looks less like a watch dial and more like something pulled from inside an actual shell.

For years, the Soirée sat quietly under the radar while references like the Darth and the 101.028 took all the attention, and with it, most of the price appreciation. That's changed. As the wider Lange 1 market has heated up over the last few months, the Soirée has started getting noticed for exactly what it is: one of the few genuinely exotic executions of Lange's most iconic design.

This example, reference 110.030 in white gold, carries the caliber L901.4, Lange's response to the extra thickness the mother-of-pearl layer demands, and comes in very good condition with its original box and papers. Sold at The Selection, at Langepedia.com in September 2026.
