Saxonia Annual Calendar — 330.039

Saxonia Annual Calendar has been on A. Lange &; Söhne's catalogue since 2010. A mid-complication, further enhanced by the finest self-winding movement ever to leave Glashütte, and offered in a compact 38.5 mm case with a simple enough dial. A stripped Langematik Perpetual, per se. For 8 years, A. Lange & Söhne offered it in white gold, pink gold and platinum… But, for reasons that elude me, each edition with the same silver dial. I want to ask why, but long ago I gave up on breaking the bad romance between Lange and understated silver dials. Then finally in its 8th year, the Saxon decided to pound the hearts.

The white gold / grey dial coupledom is defined since the early 2000s with the reference 101.030. Following we had the 410.030 Datograph Perpetual, and Saxonia, and later the Triple Split. Saxonia Annual Calendar “US Edition” is continuing the tradition, but adding a very important spice—like fenugreek works with tikka marination—the grey date-discs. The slate-grey dial, merging with grey date-discs, blued Moonphase adding a touch of color, and applied baton indices along with white gold hands floating over… Just a tremendous look.

On the back beats the Sax-O-Mat. With its 3/4 rotor, this time slate-grey treated over its deep engravings. Zero-reset along with the annual calendar, and the watch measuring at 9.8 mm in thickness. One delightful detail that is often omitted is the engraving typeface. The Saxonia Annual Calendar “US Edition” carries a thinner, sleeker serif font at the back, departing from the usual bold style. This matches perfectly to the watch’s overall classic, understated look.

The Saxonia Annual Calendar “US Edition” reference 330.039 comes with its original box and papers and in mint condition.
